Paul Robeson Vocal Competition

General Entry Requirements

* Contestants must be between 18 and 38 years of age
* Contestants may not be currently under professional management.
* Contestants may not have won 1st or 2nd prize in the Paul Robeson Vocal Competition.

Application Procedure

* Complete Application
* Include check or money order for $50 registration fee.
* Include a professional recommendation from someone other than your vocal teacher.
* Send completed application along with registration fee and recommendation to:

Competition

Preliminaries will be held May 22th, 2010 at 1 to 4 pm at:

Westminster Presbyterian Church
401 I Street SW
Washington, DC

On the corner of 4th and I Streets SW.

The finals will be held May 23th, 2010 at 8 pm

Competition requirements

1. Contestants must provide their own accompanists for the preliminaries and the finals. The accompanist is limited to the playing of the piano.
2. The contestant must be prepared to perform Five pieces
3. A minimum of one piece must be in English.
4. A minimum of one piece must be in another language
5. The same pieces may be performed for both phases of the competition
6. The maximum length of a performed piece is six minutes.

Prizes

* 1st Prize: $1000 and an invitation to feature in a recital organized by the Society.
* 2nd Prize: $500
* 3rd Prize: $100

To enter the competition, the following must be postmarked or received no later than Saturday, May 5th, 2010.

* This Completed application.
* $50 Registration fee. Make check or money order payable to Urban Philharmonic Society.
* A Professional recommendation- preferably from someone other than a current voice teacher
